Christmas Wishlist 2011

This year, I discovered the joy of giving people shopping vouchers. Because it's safe and functional and really, really helpful! At the same time of course, upon further discussion with Bird, I realized that, even though one doesn't mean it to be, it miiiight come across insincere.
Oh Christmas.
I mean, I really love it. And I love buying presents for people, and picking it out and picking out the perfectest gift. But it almost feels like I've got a deadline! And then people ask, "Well what do you want for Christmas?" And there are things that I want but that are a)too pricey and I wouldn't (honest, swear to God) want someone to get it for me or b) it would be something that I'd like to pick up by myself/for myself. Because, I don't really need anything, y'know what I mean?

But anyway, to make lives easier!
If you'd much prefer to get me something that you know I'd want and would use, here's a list:
1)A quilt cover set-
I got my single-sized quilt from Ikea and haven't checked if Metro has any quilt-covers but I know Ikea has a couple that I like. I've got one set in shades of red and one in black and grey.
I like darker, deeper colours or just plain white with texture. I'm not a fan of flowers or lots of patterns (despite some being quite cute).

2)There's a new scent from Burberry that I've been eyeing called Burberry Body.
But this is one of those presents I'd very much rather people NOT buy for me. Honestly, please.

3) I really like notebooks with blank pages. I'm not kidding, I really do. You can keep them forever and draw and write and paste things and. I like notebooks with blank pages(:

4) Books!
You can never go wrong with good literature, right? I've actually got all the Jodi Picoult books I want, so it's probably not safe to get me any of hers.
But
-books on Theatre or acting- Meisner or Chekhov or Stanisvlasky's are all welcome. Plays that you've read that you think I might like. Plays by Samuel Beckett or Harold Pinter, because I haven't actually read through any of their stuff from end to end (except for Beckett's Play).
-poetry. Collections of poems, things that are a little bit off-beat. I saw a children's book the other day that I quite liked, with a collection of poems. I forgot the title though, so I'm not very helpful right now.
- I'm in love with the Guess How Much I Love You collection- but then, I've already gotten the book I like the most. Which is Guess How Much I Love You.
So.

5) If you wanted to be more practical you could get me film for my polaroid camera. I use the creditcard sized ones that are the most common(:

6) Failing all, you could always just get me vouchers. For like Ikea (since I've just moved into this new place) or bookshops or shoe shops or places with clothes you think I'd like. I think it's really practical and nice.
Or wine. You can't go wrong with that. I'm a fan of Moscatos and Late Harvests and Medium-bodied reds with a mix of sweet and fruity flavours(:

I hope this is enough. I can't think of any more.
I'd really like to know what my friends want for Christmas though. I will go troll the internet and hope they've mistakenly left bits of information about themselves lying about.

The orange glow out of tiny windows

Quiet nights like these,
they remind me of San Francisco.

With its chilly winter air, my freezing hands stuffed into my Berkeley sweatshirt,
and alternating between smoking cognac cigar-ettes and the pack of marlbaro ice I'd brought over from Singapore.
The calm and peace, settled over the city,
"Happy New Year!" being called out randomly by strangers and us yelling back in response.
Hot chocolate and asking to sit outside, when it was just, absolutely freezing out.

The feel of sitting outside the hotel, by myself, taking in everything, in all its brilliance.

mmmmm,
Frisco.
Every night should be like the ones you gave me, or at least close to.

I will go to sleep tonight,
and have Soon After Christmas playing on repeat.

and in the quiet shadows of the early morn,
wake to find us tangled, laced,
and the sound of your sleepy smile as i run my nose down your jawline.

Three of my few favourite kids in the world (before mine come along)

Meet the three absolute darlings I am dying to see when I get to LA(:
My nephews, they are just adorable, and so beautiful, all three of them like that.

Luke and Liam (the twins), they just turned 2 last week! egad! They're growing up too fast, too fast I say!
And Lorenzo, he's already a teenager! I get this idea that the next time I see him, he'll be super grown up and freaking taller than me. Wouldn't surprise me.

But oh boys, please don't grow up too soon! Stay like this, well, forever if you can(:

I absolutely can't wait to see you.
Please still be young enough for me to take you guys out for ice-cream. Please!
):

Just me and my 97 cats now eh?
I'm an old spinster! (Or getting there pretty damn quick!)

"Why are you still here?" I ask Charis, over and over and over again

Young guy, yelling: I don't give a fuck what you think, I'll play my music as loud as I want!
Old lady, yelling: Well, you do whatever you want, you just keep it away from me! I'm with the Lord. I've got the love of Christ in my heart, you fucking faggot!

--Brooklyn

THIS IS WHAT GOT ME CHUCKLING TO MYSELF.

Smoking man to another: I've heard being pregnant is really bad for your health.

--Columbia University

Large black woman: An' I been tellin' him I got all these ideas for t-shirts... Like one for a pregnant lady that says "Congratulations, you're not the daddy!"

--BX12 Bus

this last one above, could honestly work on a tee. damn, i ought to get it printed or something:D

Little boy, throwing tantrum in the street: Dad, my feet hurt. I can't walk anymore!
Dad: Yeah, well, my testicles hurt. Come on!

--Times Square

Reader Poll: Should Meth Be Required for Tourists?

13-year-old brunette to tourists: Argh! Move!
13-year-old redhead: These people need to learn the ethics of jaywalking.

--Times Square

yeah they probably should make it a requirement. It'd make more sense in any case, you get to enjoy New York more!

Peace out y'all

Things I love in life:

Oh Lord, so many!

Online shopping, for one.
I think it's the best thing since sliced bread!
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love shopping. I love wandering around malls, with a friend or two, mommy or just by myself (there are particular people who are brilliant to shop with). I love the thrill of buying things.
But online shopping is a different kind of thrill.
For starters, it comes in the mail! And my word, I LOVE mail. you wouldn't believe just how much i loooove mail! I really really do! I looove seeing my name on an envelope. It just makes my week!
Bird and I used to snail-mail each other (on top of emails and being on the phone). Quite funny lah, her letter would contain references to the phone conversation we had right before she wrote me the letter. And they weren't always lengthy letters. Sometime they contained like, all of four sentences. But it was nice! Like wee surprises! teehee

I digress!
I ABSOLUTELY LOOOOVE MAIL. So what more if your mail contains new clothes, or books!
OMG, SO EXCITED JUST TALKING ABOUT IT! haha
This is quite lame actually, all that's on it's way to me right now are school textbooks. Okay, and a book that I've been just DYING to read. But well, see what gets me excited these days? sheesh.

I also really love intensive rehearsals.
Kind of like what I'm doing now except I could do with focusing on different productions at different times. The one that's showing at SRT on October 27th and 28th, that's intensive.
We've got weeks of six day weeks that stretch from five to ten (and even twelve) hours at a time! But you come away with such a sense of achievement and satisfaction and an entire world of progress.

I loooove oreo milkshakes on a sunny, skinny day.
When you're in jeans and a tank top and it's warm but not scorching. Oh, those are the best.

Milk and Oreos!
Oh my! I feel like having some now!

Most of all, a combination of a few of my top favourite things.
Snuggling under the duvet on a rainy afternoon with a fantastic book and someone warm and clean and cuddly. A ball of fur at the foot of the bed, a cup of chamomile tea with a few drops of honey. A classical CD left on repeat, and an oil burner with a mixture of Eucalyptus and Tea-Tree. Warm fluffy slippers waiting on the carpeted floor for me to stick my popsicle-feeties in and my cell-phone; silent, charging and undisturbing.

bits of life that you ought not to let go off

This picture just popped up on my screensaver of constantly-changing pictures.
I think it is soooo terribly cute!

Plus, the little girl has the same coloured skin as Vic and could totally pass off as his kid!
ACK.
LOOK AT THEIR FEETIES! OMG DAMN CUTE!

My Therapist Says That's Why I Don't Get Any

40-something man: Hey! I know you! You're Victor's daughter, right?
Teenage girl: Yeah.
40-something man: Wow, look how tall you've gotten. You probably don't remember me, but I'm a friend of your dad's from way back.
Teenage girl: Oh, awesome. (smiles)
40-something man: So...how are you? Still in school?
Teenage girl: No, no, graduated and taking a year off and then studying to be a lawyer.
40-something man, shaking head: Well, be prepared for a life of celibacy.

yes, I'm pretty sure that's how Victor's daughter will turn out:D

Make way for the weird cat-lady kids.

AWWWWW
OMG I AM SOOO IN LOVE WITH BUTTONS!
She's just like, sitting on my bed, and like dozing off.

AND IT IS SOOOO FREAKING CUTE!

ack.

A random picture post with long overdue pictures

In no order whatsoever:

This is Buttons. She curled up beside me and freaking draped her arm over mine.
CUTE AS HELL!

Victor took this with one of Alastair's cameras. I likeeee.

Some photoshoot I did a million years ago for DNA magazine
My latest addition (until tomorrow at half past six-ilicious!)

I camwhored at one point in time (contrary to popular belief, I don't usually do that. I swear to God)
I camwhored because I was changing my haaaaaair!
byebye pink streak that didn't stay very long):

Mini-me!

Janice has a mohawk man.
And my hair now looks the same as when this picture was taken.

Dinner with Victor! (that's how bored he looks when he hangs out with me)
Abigayle, my baby sister, on a completely different day.
By the way, she is about to become an older sister!
Yeahppp, that's right folks. I am Da Jie x3!

MOMMY LOOKS DAMN CUTE! Except my hair looks better than hers.
Okay, not really. Her blue is still visible, after what, four months?
Nong Nong time ago.
But the hair's pretty much the same.

So a litter of kitties have become Homer's next door neighbour for a while now.
This is one of them, at the top of the door, trying to get away (and getting stuck in the grill)
Sunset at my place-

So a while back, I had a ten day free spa trial (worth $700 or smth!) and it was faaaaab.
It was called Willowstream, a Fairmont spa. Located inside Fairmont Hotel.
They had lovely steambaths, saunas, warm jacuzzis, and a cold plunge.
They even had a rest-area. Because you know, getting your nails done, facials, hopping in and out of steambaths, they all get pretty tiring.
So you're allowed to nap here for as long as you freaking want!

yeaaaaaaaaaahhh. Loved it while it lasted. It was second home for nearly two weeks):

Below: kitty cat I wanted to adopt but smelt of pee and kept scratching me!

TLC's idea of art.

My baby likes to sleep!
sometimes in the nooks of my table as I work
Sometimes behind the telly in my room

sometimes on top of the cooler box, in the storeroom, 5cm from the ceiling. When she wakes up, she starts crying cos she doesn't know how to come down.

good times, good times

Translation: This will happen to your penis if you smoke too much.
We saw it in Taiwan.

Orkeh Dorkeh.
I am doing serious procrastination right now. I did my first Chhem assignment in fifteen minutes, and I've taken like, a week or something for my second one.
Groan.

Well, hope this fulfilled your pic-cravings. Because I realized, I hardly ever upload pics((:

Smoke gets in your eyes

please watch this. IT IS SO FUNNY.
It's not just her brilliant singing (though you will see why I'm so in love with her) but this is just SO HILARIOUS THAT YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT.
As into Judy Garland as i am, I find it incredibly hilarious and stupid the possessiveness some people have over "her" songs.
Like, on YouTube, a video of Charlotte Church singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow comes up.
And comments include, "WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE TO REPAINT THE MONA LISA!"
"THIS SONG BELONGS TO JUDY GARLAND"

So stupid. Do you see her children doing that?
Then why should you?
